Adani Group stocks rallied sharply on Friday, climbing up to 15% as investors responded positively to clarifications on the US bribery case and assurances of financial stability.
Adani Green Energy led the surge, rising 14.64% to hit Rs 1,247.55. Adani Energy Solutions followed, reaching a day’s high of Rs 825.85. Most other Adani Group stocks also registered gains in early trade.
The rally comes after Japan’s largest lenders, including Mizuho Financial Group, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, reportedly reaffirmed their support for the Adani Group.
These developments follow Abu Dhabi’s International Holding Company (IHC) reiterating confidence in its investments, emphasizing the group’s contributions to green energy and sustainability.
IHC highlighted that its outlook on the Adani Group remains unchanged, despite recent allegations against the group’s founder chairman, Gautam Adani. Additionally, GQG Partners, led by Rajiv Jain, has expressed continued faith in the conglomerate, stating no changes in its investment strategy.
Adani Green Energy, at the centre of the US indictment, clarified that its key executives, including Gautam Adani, have not been charged under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) by either the US Department of Justice (DOJ) or the SEC.
The group also highlighted its strong financial position, with all portfolio companies holding sufficient liquidity to meet debt servicing requirements for at least 12 months.
Investments across portfolio companies amounted to Rs 75,277 crore in H1FY25, contributing to a record-high gross total asset base of Rs 5.53 lakh crore. The group highlighted that debt maturities remain manageable through FY34.
Adani Enterprises and Adani Ports had also gained 1% each, while cement stock Ambuja Cements and ACC rose 1-2%. However, some of the shares have descended back into negative territory due to market volatility.
